Magazine Editorials

The Creative Director of Walrus Magazine, Antonio De Luca, and picture editor Bree Seeley asked the Visual Comunication department of Fabrica to create a visual essay about the the humanitarian crisis in Darfur, Sudan. The focus of the visual commentary was on the aspects of western culture that distract us from addressing this genocide.

There is a fundamental lack of urgency to protect the most vulnerable on our planet. The size of the crisis in Darfur mocks our civility. We must make our leadership painfully aware of the number of innocents killed in this crisis, the veritable malice of the Sudanese central government in the unwillingness to protect its people, highlight the sub-plots of mass rape, sickness and hunger which pour out of the displaced population and also illuminate the sources backing the Janjaweed.

The visual was published in the December 2007 issue of the Walrus Magazine, Canada.

The visual was published in Design School Confidential by Steven Heller and Lita Talarico.
